Die amerikanische Musikband Violens hat vor kurzem ein tolles Mixtape veröffentlicht, welches ich euch nicht vorenthalten möchte. Manche Tracks erinnern ein wenig an Depeche Mode, andere wiederum kommen sehr melodisch-poppig daher.

A brand new, summerish flavoured, dancefloor orientated, techno / techhouse set mixed with traktor. First time i recorded something played with traktor and i love this tool, but it was kinda hard not to switch tunes every minute and to keep the fx low. i also managed to make a tracklist this time. the photo has been taken last summer in the “volksgarten” in cologne.

Midway through we‘re back to noisy post-(moderate?)-rock from the likes of Godspeed you! and a Kevin Shields remix of Mogwai’s ‚Fear Satan‘, closely followed by the unmistakable sound of Pit Er Pat. Although there are some very recognisable names dotted throughout the mix, some suitably obscure track choices mean you‘re bound to have a few „I can’t believe I haven’t heard this before“ moments.

There are some lovely sequences here, the run of Opitope, Biosphere and the combined forces of Vikki Jackman (Far Away Press – I‘m looking forward to digging through this label’s catalogue) and Jodi Cave is sublime, as is Pausal’s remix of Fieldhead’s ‚Almost Everything There is to Know‘ on Home Assembly Music.

Back in early 2007 Amon Tobin released his latest full length album titled Foley Room and put together a tour focusing on the sound and the music, rather then thinking too much about lights, projections and stage antics. After all, this is music.

It’s about the sound and the shared experience of being immersed in waves of bass while dissonant collections of rhythm and melody move, confuse, annoy you a bit then move you again. a passionate affair this recording is an attempt to capture not just the music but the atmosphere of the show as a whole.

Geschafft: Über 40 junge Designer schließen in diesem Sommersemester ihr Studium an der FH Aachen ab. Und am Freitag, 17. Juli und Samstag, 18. Juli 2009 stellt der Fachbereich Gestaltung ihre Abschlussarbeiten aus.
