Square America is a site dedicated to preserving and displaying vintage snapshots from the first 3/4s of the 20th Century. Not only do these photographs contain a wealth of primary source information on how life was lived they also constitute a shadow history of photography, one too often ignored by museums and art galleries. Or at least that’s what I tell people- more accurately, the site is a catalog of my obsession with vintage photographs. For the last eight years or so I‘ve spent countless hours digging through boxes of old snapshots at flea markets (mostly here in Chicago and in NYC) and too much money buying photos on eBay.

Der mit Unterstützung des Bundesministeriums für Umwelt, Naturschutz und Reaktorsicherheit (BMU) produzierte Kurzfilm „Power of Wind“ erhält zurecht beim 44. Pixdaus is a place where anyone can post his pictures, photos and others rate it. If it’s cool it gets to the main page and more people can enjoy it. If it’s not it gets burried but you still can post it to your blog or website using the link codes under each image.

Eine klasse Inspirationsquelle in Sachen Fotografie ist „Pixdaus, God gave us Pics!“. Fragwürdig meiner Meinung nach sind allerdings die fehlenden Copyright-Hinweise der einzelnen Bildmotive.

Das Portfolio von Chris Scarborough aus den USA hat mich von Anfang an fasziniert. Seine Zeichnungen und vorallem seine Fotografien verleihen gegenüber dem Betrachter eine ganz besondere melancholische und zugleich einzigartige Stimmung.

Musik aus den verschiedensten Bereichen der Elektroszene, wie z.B. Nu-Jazz, Dub, Noise etc. gibt es im Überfluss auf „Different Waters“ als freien Download.

Kari Pätilä aus Finnland kreierte sein kleines Font-Quiz „The Rather Difficult Font Game“, welches mithilfe von AJAX realisiert wurde. Garnicht so einfach wie ich finde. Eine mobile Version des Spiels für das iPhone/iPod Touch ist derzeit in Entwicklung.
